TRYOUTS & EVALUATION

Come play volleyball with WIZARD! Our dynamic training, with exceptional systems and coaches, produces high-end competitive teams. All the camps and clinics are great, but here is the real benefit: playing on a WIZARD club team, wearing the uniform, bonding with teammates, and experiencing high-level match play representing one of the best clubs in the County! Over the course of a whole season, athletes receive unlimited instruction and experience with match and tournament play. Playing on a club team is an incredible value considering the number of crucial hours in the gym and the experience gained in a single season. There is no substitute for the experience and FUN during a season of club volleyball with WIZARD!

USA Volleyball requires that each athlete register within their region – our region’s governing body is the Florida USAV.  You must register/renew USAV YEARLY MEMBERSHIP. and pay a registration fee. Should you have any questions in regards to this requirement, please contact us.

We ask that when you come to the gym, you have a plan in mind having done your research, and know in advance if Wizard is the club for you. Our goal is to leave the gym with our teams in place – teams comprised of athletes committed to excellence who want to be with Wizard, and families who are excited to be a part of the best coaching and top to bottom training regimen in the county. There will be No Refunds inside 96 hours. Walk-ups are welcomed.

Note to our parents
As we enter the tryout and team formation phase, we want to share important insight into our team-building philosophy, especially regarding roster size, playing time expectations, and long-term player development.
Roster Size: Why 9 – 11 is Ideal (Preferably 11)
While we understand the appeal of smaller rosters, especially for families hoping their child will see more playing time, we ask you to consider the bigger picture:
College-level volleyball programs often carry 15 – 20+ players, and not every athlete gets regular playing time. Preparing for that environment starts now. Our club typically builds rosters between 10 and 12 players, striking a balance between competitive depth, practice quality, and individual development.
Playing Time: Small Roster ≠ More Playing Time
One of the most common misconceptions is that fewer players automatically means more court time. Substitution rules and rotational positions can sometimes limit flexibility.
Strategic decisions are always based on performance, position, game needs, and readiness, not just availability.
We intentionally build teams with two athletes per some position to:
Foster healthy competition, driving players to improve and earn their role.
Provide coverage for injuries, illness, and scheduling conflicts.
Ensure we have the numbers to run high-level, game-like practices and scrimmages.
Ultimately, we want every player to grow not just as an athlete, but as a teammate and competitor. That means:
Embracing competition for spots as a growth opportunity.
Understanding that development is a process, and not every season will look the same.
Trusting the coaching staff to make decisions in the best interest of both the individual and the team.
Thank you for supporting our program and trusting us with your athlete’s journey. Our commitment is to help each player improve, compete, and prepare for success at the next level, whatever that may be.

WIZARD TRYOUTS PREP: workshops are designed to familiarize young athletes with club tryout drills and procedures. Coaches will conduct a “mock tryout” which will include evaluations throughout the workshop. This is a great way to reduce tryout nerves and increase confidence.
